This week our lesson picked the pace in intensity, in a continuing effort to customize the blog. To bring about a truly professional product, John recommended Optimize Press 2.0 as theme we would be using to transform the blog into something we can truly call our own.
The volume of activities pick up but the presentation or the delivery continued in providing bite size quantities for us to digest.
To fully understand the functionality of optimize press John utilizes the built in tutorials that on the optimize press website. After visiting and listening to the instructions I understood the reasoning why John would recommend using the video tutorials on the optimize press website. The presentation of each feature is done similar manner to what John has been doing, the same small bite size information is delivered.
One can really appreciate the true value in delivering the instructions of each feature was careful to avoid confusion that provided a real ease of use of the product.
After installation of the software and getting the file in the proper directories, it was time to get to work with some more customization of the blog.
The topic covered within this lesson just to highlight:
- Set up a basic blog
Within the optimize Press theme we embarked on the process of choosing a layout, with the links just under the banner and on the footer.
- Add a Custom Header
- Installing various plug-ins
- Social Sidebar
- All in one SEO
Installation of a customized header require first ordering the Header and once the header design is complete we install it.
Our next exercise consisted of installation of a few plug-ins that will both bring traffic from the social network and as well as to help in search engine optimization. All of this is designed to drive traffic to the website.
The jet pack is a two step approach because we did not only install and activate the plug-in, it also require getting a WordPress account before the plug-in could become fully active.
- Links Manage
The links manager was available on the side menu of previous but was remove back 2010 the links manager once installed inserted the option back into the side menu.
Just after the completion of the plug-in installation it was time to add other pages to the blog an About Me Page.
It is basically an introduction of who I am a little bit about my life prior to my Online marketing adventure.
This I understand to be quite real It gives more personable impression and not just a name out there on the world wide web.
Finally it was time to add a menu to the blog.
As the details of the various steps taken within this lesson unfold, I will reiterate the ease in which all of this is accomplished. The lesson are given with a close up view of exactly what John is doing to accomplish these task and all the members of the Partnership to Success have to do is to mimic John’s actions to do the same.
